Colonial Quarter

A two-acre living history museum on St. George Street featuring interactive tours, colonial craftsmen demonstrations, and hands-on experiences.

About Colonial Quarter

The Colonial Quarter is a two-acre living history museum located in the heart of St. Augustine's historic district, offering visitors an immersive journey through 250 years of colonial history. This interactive attraction brings the past to life through costumed interpreters, working craftsmen, and hands-on experiences that engage visitors of all ages.

Spread across multiple historic and reconstructed buildings along St. George Street, the Colonial Quarter recreates life in St. Augustine during its Spanish, British, and Spanish Colonial Revival periods. Visitors can watch blacksmiths forge metal, observe leather workers crafting goods, see musket and cannon demonstrations, and try their hand at various colonial activities.

The Living History Tour is the signature experience, led by costumed guides who take visitors through the different eras of St. Augustine's colonial past. Tours typically begin at the 16th-century settlement area and progress through the British and Second Spanish periods, with demonstrations and interactive elements throughout. The guides are knowledgeable historians who bring the stories of colonial St. Augustine to life with engaging narratives and authentic period demonstrations.

Beyond the guided tours, the Colonial Quarter features several unique experiences, including a 35-foot wooden watchtower with panoramic views of the historic district, a working 18th-century print shop, and various opportunities to try colonial activities like musket drills and leather stamping.

The property also includes Taberna del Caballo, an on-site restaurant and tavern serving period-inspired cuisine in a historic setting, making the Colonial Quarter both an educational attraction and a dining destination.
