St. Augustine Alligator Farm Zoological Park
One of Florida's oldest attractions, home to every species of crocodilian in the world, plus exotic birds, reptiles, and thrilling zip line adventures.
The St. Augustine Alligator Farm Zoological Park is one of Florida's oldest and most beloved attractions, welcoming visitors since 1893. What began as a small collection of alligators has grown into a world-renowned zoological facility that holds the distinction of being the only place on Earth where you can see every living species of crocodilian—all 24 of them.
The park's history is deeply intertwined with St. Augustine's development as a tourist destination. In the late 1800s, alligators were a major draw for visitors curious about Florida's exotic wildlife. The original farm started near the St. Augustine Lighthouse before moving to its current location on Anastasia Boulevard in 1920.
Today, the Alligator Farm is home to hundreds of alligators and crocodiles, from tiny hatchlings to Maximo, a massive 15-foot, 1,250-pound saltwater crocodile from Australia. The park's naturalistic habitats allow visitors to observe these prehistoric creatures up close, including the rare albino alligators that are among the park's most popular residents.
Beyond crocodilians, the park features an impressive collection of exotic birds, reptiles, and mammals. The stunning rookery, built within the alligator habitats, hosts thousands of wading birds during nesting season (March through June), creating a spectacular natural display. Visitors can also see Komodo dragons, exotic snakes, lemurs, and a variety of other fascinating animals.
For the adventurous, Crocodile Crossing offers a unique zip line and aerial adventure course that takes participants directly over the alligator habitats, providing a thrilling bird's-eye view of the reptiles below.
